WHAT IS CBG?
CBG (cannabigerol) is not present in large quantities in most cannabis strains. It is the first cannabinoid to form, a precursor to CBD and THC. CBG typically energizes, providing enhanced focus. Some report relief from symptoms of depression and anxiety.
In addition to CBG's anti-anxiety effects, users report a muscle-relaxing reaction, both of which are connected to the same nervous system. CBG binds to certain endocannabinoid receptors in the brain that ease both anxiety and pain. Studies have shown CBG can help to increase levels of dopamine, which supports anxiety-levels, sleep, and appetite.
CBG also has a strong effect on relieving symptoms of ADHD and improving energy and focus, both of which have links to anxiety/overall mental wellbeing.
Side effects are typically minimal in comparison to the side effects possible with many pharmaceuticals, i.e. nausea, fatigue and irritability. CBG can interact with some medications, so it is best to check with a health care provider if you are taking medications.
CBG is considered a dietary supplement. The FDA does not currently regulate the safety and purity of dietary supplements.
